Chicago, IL’s Window Tint Regulations for Vehicles
When considering window tinting for your vehicle in the Chicago area, it’s important to be aware of local regulations to ensure you aren’t breaking any laws. Window tinting is legal in Illinois, but there are certain restrictions based on the type of vehicle and the location of the windows. For sedans, you can apply 35% tint on all side windows and the rear windshield. SUVs and vans have more flexibility, allowing any level of darkness on the rear windows and back windshield, while the front two side windows must allow 50% of light to pass through.

Tinting the front windshield is only permitted with a non-reflective tint on the top six inches of the glass. Additionally, reflective tint is not allowed on any windows. All window tint services by Advanced Automotive Protection are legal in Chicago.
Window Tinting Questions and Answers
Benefits of Automotive Window Tinting
Protects Interior from UV Damage
Over time, exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can cause the interior leather, plastic, or carpet materials of your vehicle to fade, crack, and deteriorate. Our premium window tint acts as a protective barrier, blocking up to 99% of UV rays and preserving the condition of your seats, dashboard, and other interior surfaces. This helps maintain the value and appearance of your vehicle for the long haul.
Helps Maintain a Cooler Temperature
On a hot and humid Chicago summer day, your car can feel like a sauna after sitting in the sun. With Advanced Automotive Protection’s professional window tint, you can enjoy a cooler cabin. Our tint offers up to 99% infrared heat rejection, reducing the temperature inside your vehicle as well as the need for blasting the air conditioning. This can be a major money saver for the long haul, as your AC can increase your fuel consumption by up to 10%!
Added Security and Privacy
Whether you’re parked or on the move, window tinting improves your privacy by making it harder for unwanted eyes to see inside your vehicle. This added layer of discretion also boosts security, as potential thieves are less likely to target a car when they can’t easily spot valuables inside.
Reduces Glare for Safer Driving
Excessive sunlight and glare can be distracting and dangerous while driving. This danger is amplified during the winter in Chicago when rays bounce off the snow and ice on the streets. Our window tint helps reduce glare from the sun and headlights, allowing for safer, more comfortable driving, especially on bright or reflective surfaces.
